I’m thoroughly enjoying learning more about the wide array of DevOps tools. I feel it is important that I’m familiar with as many of them as possible. Like many of the tools I have heard of Bamboo. So I’m excited to dive in and learn more about it. I really like how Atlassian has built so many tools that integrate well each other.

What is Bamboo

Bamboo is Atlassian’s version of an automation server that is used for Continuous Integration and Continuous deployment. It combines automated builds, testing, and releases into a single workflow. In terms of integration it integrates with Atlassian’s other products such as:

  • Confluence
  • JIRA
  • Bitbucket
  • Stash
  • Slack
  • etc.

Bamboo vs. Jenkins

I have experience using Jenkins in my workflows and projects. As it was the required tool to complete a project. ALthough, I do remember being given links to other automation server options and Bamboo was one of them. So I added it to my Trello Board as a DevOps tool I want to learn more about.

According to Atlassian Bamboo Server the best tool because:

  • Deep developer tool integrations
  • Built-in deployment support
  • Powerful build agent management
  • Automated merging
  • Built-in Git branching and workflows
  • Enterprise support and resources
